It’s that time again. Every Tuesday a group of writers get together. They select a picture (mine took me about an hour to find mine on pinterest) and write 200 words about it. Enjoy and remember to follow the link to read some sexy teases.

Coming Home

What the hell was she doing? She knew that she needed to turn around, to get back on the bus and let it take her away but she didn’t. Sophia stood on the side of the street and watched the bus disappear down a dusty highway. There was no way out now. She hiked her bag over her shoulder. There wasn’t anything for miles except for the house opposite her. The sun set behind it, the rays of light cast everything in an orange glow. How many times had she sat on the porch and watched the sun set?

The front door swung open and she stopped in her tracks. A large Labrador ran down the steps and skidded to a stop when it spotted her. The sight made her smile despite her nerves.

The door opened again and this time she saw him. He walked down the steps and stopped next to Tilly. “What has you in such a state?”

The dog barked happily and Sophia was almost afraid to move. He frowned and glanced up. Even with the distance between them she caught sight of the rich brown of his eyes. He stepped towards her and crossed his arms. His expression guarded.

“Sophia?”

“Hey Taylor.”

  1. This is a great tease, Ella. I love the tension you create about a shared history and the way you drive it with details about the setting (thrown in so that they pull your attention constantly as you try to find out which are significant and which are just there for color.) I am thoroughly teased, thoroughly desperate to read more and to know more about these characters. Fabulous.

  2. All the details really brought this home for me. It allowed me to be there in a way where I could be emotionally linked to the location and the characters. Very nice tease, Ella!

  3. I was totally engrossed in the groundwork you set for this tease…and hooked at the end with the cliffhanger. Left with a hundred dangling story bunnies, I can’t wait to find out. Great tease, Ella. Wonderful! Why have they squared off when she was so clearly ‘coming back’? Really wonderful. xo
